Every knockout match eliminates one nation. If you hold players from the losing side, their tournament is over - their price will fall, and they contribute zero future points. Anticipating eliminations and acting before the market reacts is the most important skill in the knockout rounds.

Chip Deployment in the Knockout Rounds

The Round of 16 (Round of 32 in the expanded 2026 format) is a common Bench Boost window - multiple matches occur in rapid succession, giving all bench players scoring opportunities. The quarter-final round is often the optimal Triple Captain window if a premium asset faces a weaker surviving team.

Save the Wildcard chip for after the Round of 32 if your squad has suffered heavy elimination losses, or use it strategically before the quarter-finals to reset your squad around the 8 teams most likely to reach the semi-finals.
