What is Trading?
Treating a betting market as a financial market — entering and exiting positions for capital gains.
Definition
Sports trading on exchanges (mainly Betfair) is structurally similar to stock trading: the market price moves on news (goals, red cards, lineup changes), and you enter long (back) or short (lay) and exit when the price moves favourably. Pre-match trading on team news, in-play trading on goal probability swings — both work. Toolset: Bet Angel, Geeks Toy, Trader Pro. Profit potential is real but margins are thin and the operator commission (2-5% of net winnings) is a permanent drag.
Example
Lay England at 2.50 pre-team-news. After news of Kane unavailable, England drifts to 2.85. Back England at 2.85 → guaranteed profit.
