What is Middle?
Betting both sides of a market at different lines, hoping the result lands in between for double profit.
Definition
A middle bet exploits line movement: you bet one side at the opening line, then bet the other side at a different price after the line moves. If the result lands in the gap, both bets win. Most common in NFL when the spread moves from -3 to -7 in a week — bet the favourite at -3, then the dog at +7, and a 4, 5 or 6-point margin wins both. The probability of hitting the middle is small, but the payout ratio is huge — even a 5% middle hit rate is profitable.
Example
Bet Eagles -3 at -110 on Monday. Spread climbs to -7 by Friday — bet Cowboys +7 at -110. Final: Eagles win 31-26 (5 pts). Both bets win.
