What is Parlay?
A multi-leg bet where every leg must win for the parlay to pay out.
Definition
A parlay (UK: 'accumulator') combines two or more selections into a single bet. Odds multiply: 2.00 × 2.00 × 2.00 = 8.00 decimal. The reward is huge but so is the variance — and bookmaker margin compounds with each leg, so a 5-leg parlay typically has 15-25% effective vig vs 5% on a single. Parlays drive a disproportionate share of US sportsbook profit because casual bettors love the long-shot dream. Sharp bettors mostly stick to singles.
Example
3-leg parlay at 1.90 / 1.90 / 1.90 = decimal odds 6.86. $20 stake returns $137.18 if all three legs win.
