What is Juice?
American slang for the bookmaker's commission baked into the odds.
Definition
Juice (also 'vig' or 'vigorish') is the implicit commission a sportsbook charges on a bet. It's not deducted at settlement — it's hidden inside the price. On a US point-spread market typically priced at -110 / -110, the juice is 4.55%. Sharp books like Pinnacle run as low as 2% juice on majors; soft US books run 4-7% on standard markets and 15-30% on parlays. Lower juice = higher long-term EV.
Example
Standard NFL spread at -110 / -110 has 4.55% juice. The same market at -105 / -105 has 2.38% juice — significantly better for the bettor.
